Prenatal Exam

Well I went for my prenatal appointment today. I'm due in 4 days so I was really looking forward to this appointment to see if my body was doing anything. I have not felt very much, the occasional cramp here and there, but no braxton hicks (I had tons with Carter). My biggest fear was that I was at zero over all because I wasn't feeling anything. My doc told me that I am sitting at 3 cm dilated and I am 50% effaced. I nearly fell off the table!! I know this doesn't mean anything, and that it can still be a couple more weeks. But MAN does it feel good to know something is happening. With Carter, I was 1 cm dilated 0% effaced for 1 1/2 weeks before I want into labour. Then after about 12 hours of labour, I was still only 1 -2 cm! Being at 3 cm feels great because I didn't have any labour pains getting there! haha unlike Carter. So while I was there, my doc asked me if I wanted her to "help things along",(Sweep the membranes). I said sure! I had heard this helps about 50 % of the time and I never was open enough to have it with Carter. So I went ahead with it. HOLY HANNAH!!!!!!! Some people say this never hurt them, well they are lucky! I had tears running down my face even though I was not crying and it hurt worse then my last labour pains did!! If I go into labour.. I guess it was worth it... but ouch! So now were back to the waiting game. I haven't noticed much since the sweep. Some cramps and minor pain, but my guess is that is form the sweep alone. Right now, I'm just happy something is happening!

My doc "sweeped" me three times and HOLY HANNA is right! I hope you have better results with that than I did. I also had more progress with pre-labour this time around and my labour was much shorter so here's hoping for you!

Yay! That's so exciting!
If you start feeling contractions you should jump in the tub! They sped up my contractions pronto!!
I hope everything goes smoother this time for you!!

I could barley drag myself out of bed, but then i was greeted with this. She looks SO proud of herself when she does it too. Shes been trying since she was 2 months old. Blogging it because I cannot talk about it.

Cam and I have told people more then once, "Carter is suspect Autism Spectrum Disorder". But after so many months of waiting, and having a specialist sit you down and say  "After observing you son, we firmly believe that he has Autism".   I now realize that I was not prepared to deal with the fact that Carter has Autisum.  I was, and still am, Devastated.  After the specialist told us of her conclusions she then asked , "Now after hearing that, how are you feeling? Are ok? Do you have questions? Can I help?" Honestly I thought I was fine. "We knew this was coming" I said. "I'm fine". Cams answer was the same. After she said "Yes, but sometimes having it confirmed makes it sink in, and you don't react how you thought you would". She was right. Kids Calenders

So I feel like I am doing A LOT of projects lately. It has been wonderful. I feel as if the "I just had a baby" haze is slowly lifting and I am feeling (sort of) human again. My first project was 'Cams Christmas Countdown' . There are more to come! This one is more of an on going project. But I loved the idea so much that I decided to share. I was at a friends house awhile ago, and I notice her wall was covered in Calenders. I of course asked her why. She told me that she doesn't have time to keep journals for all her kids, so she buys them their own calender every year, and keeps all of their appointments, play dates, birthdays... anything thing to do with that child on their calender. So when they get older, they can go through them and see what they did growing up. FANTASTIC. Ever since Carter was born, I have felt guilt at not keeping some sort of journal for my kids.
